Fred Camden

Fred Camden: Director & Career Specialist

With twenty-five years of management and supervisory experience that included interviewing, training, and the human resource process with employees from a variety of backgrounds, Fred has a combination of both personal and professional experience conducive to being an effective Director and Career Specialist. Fred develops and maintains strong business relationships in a variety of industries that result in competitive long-term employment throughout the North Texas region. Fred attended the University of North Texas in Denton where he majored in Business Administration and Management. During Fred's spare time, he enjoys family time and the grandchildren, walking, reading, surfing the net, fishing, camping, and Boy Scout activities!



Sonja Camden

Sonja Camden: Founder and Consultant

Sonja holds a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. For the past thirty years she has been both personally & professionally involved with disabilities across a broad continuum, to include intellectual, physical, mental health, and Autism. As Founder & Consultant for Camden, Camden & Associates (CCA) in Texas she now provides on-going administrative & policy supports, training, and services on behalf of Texans with disabilities. Sonja's experience provides vast knowledge through both education, employment & personally parenting two sons with disabilities. Sonja understands how to identify state-wide markets that clearly have an excellent service model that will advance the employment goals & objectives of those with disabilities and produce long-term employment outcomes. Prior to establishing two CRP's and creating business models that promote job placement success, she was employed with United Cerebral Palsy and the Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services (TWC) as a Vocational Rehabilitation Teacher through the Division for Blind Services; she served consumers with low vision and blindness, and taught alternative blindness skills to include Braille & Orientation & Mobility skills that transcended the home into the workplace and community. In addition to this experience, she's collaborated with colleagues & developed a job placement training seminar that promotes independence and inclusion within the community at large, thus, providing a path that clearly places those with disabilities regardless of age in a competitive integrated work setting that meets their needs and promotes empowerment and personal dignity. For leisure time, Sonja enjoys reading, family time with children & grandchildren, writing, politics and traveling whenever the opportunity arises.



Steve Pohl

Steve Pohl: Vice President of IT and Marketing

Steve Pohl came to the Camden, Camden & Associates team to help establish Camden, Camden & Associates as a 21st century company by building their digital identity and online brand in the information age. As a former Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services consumer and the husband of a disabled veteran, Steve has seen several sides of this industry. His experience in web design is rather eclectic with sites as varied as telecom companies, campaign sites, portfolios, fan art galleries, SEO consulting, and he also designed the website and e-book covers for a best selling Canadian author. In the past he has taught web design for the Upward Bound program at Richland College and still spends time helping out in their multimedia lab to aide students in using a wide array of modern digital media tools. Steve is a movie and trivia buff and likes to spend his free time reading, gaming, creating digital art, traveling cyberspace, and spending time with his wife and gifted daughter.



Edgar Lara

Edgar Lara: Bilingual Career Coach

Edgar originally comes from a migrant family from Guatemala City. He speaks three languages and has been in the United States since 1973, he attended high-school and college in Los Angeles California, and graduated in 1978 with a major in computer science. After he moved to the Dallas area in 1981, he continued college at Brookhaven College in Farmers Branch to earn a degree in Principal management. He worked for several major companies in Dallas as an Assistant Manager, and worked for Rolex Watch Service Corp. for 15 years as Inventory Control Manger and went back to college to earn several more degrees, including a Public Relation degree from East Field College in Mesquite, Texas. Being a former Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services consumer, Edgar joins Camden, Camden & Associates with a strong knowledge of consumer needs and an even stronger desire to use his skills and knowledge to meet those needs.

 


Amy Dacus

Amy Dacus: Job Placement Specialist & Career Coach

Amy Dacus comes to Camden, Camden, & Associates from The Great Lakes State, Michigan, where she discovered shortly after high school that she had a passion for helping people. She became a licensed CNA and gained nearly 20 years of experience working with the elderly population, developmentally disabled adults, and in skilled nursing care facilities. Amy relocated to Garland in 2004 and in her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, taking care of her dog and two birds, walking, and being out in nature.

 


Karen Timms

Karen Timms: Administrative Assistant & Career Coach

Karen Timms, a Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services Consumer prior to joining Camden & Camden Associates in April 2013, worked for Park Crest Elementary (GISD) for nearly 10 years; as a data clerk/secretary, she was a successful and contributing team member to faculity and administration. She enjoyed helping and encouraging the students as well as being a positive and professional role model to the many students, their families, and to the community. In her spare time, Karen enjoys spending time at church, with her daughter, with friends, traveling, and going to movies.

 


Dorothy

Dr. Dorothy Jonaitis, Supported Employment Specialist, Career Coach

Dr. Jonaitis is a life-long educator both at the secondary and university level, with her passion being for the learning process that occurs within a classroom dynamic. With her passion for education, she also has tremendous experience with mental health disabilities that provides her with the knowledge, skill and empathy for serving consumers who are now seeking to re-enter the workforce. She is also a well-known biblical scholar, author, and conference speaker, with an additional interest for traveling to Israel and various areas throughout Europe such as Greece, Turkey, Italy, and Spain. Dr. Jonaitis is credentialed through the University of North Texas (UNT/WISE) to provide Job Coaching and Placement services, and is eager to assist those with disabilities in achieving their goals of integrated competitive employment.


Diane Wegner, MSE, Certified Mediator

Diane Wegner earned her Masters in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee, in 2000. As a licensed junior high and high school teacher she taught 17 years in the inner city of Milwaukee. She acquired vast knowledge of, skills with, and empathy for the students with disabilities who were fully integrated into her classes. Diane also has extensive experience as a trained mediator, having served as a volunteer for the Milwaukee Victim Offender Reconciliation Program from 1986 to 1991. As a volunteer she facilitated meetings for perpetrators of crimes who were on parole to mediate with their victims in order to achieve a restitution that ended their parole. Diane also facilitated the structure and education needed to establish student-to-student (peer) mediation programs in 25 schools in the Milwaukee area. On the business side, Diane did communications training and conflict resolution for a large health care system in the Milwaukee area for 5 years. With this strong background in communication, mediation, and education, Diane understands the importance of and has the skills to build positive rapport with the consumer and build a relationship of honesty and trust with both consumer and employer. Diane's understanding of this field is enhanced by the fact that she has had a life-long visual disability. Diane relaxes by bicycling, traveling, reading, and playing golf.
